Soften Cosmetics Buzz Kill Digital Mud Duo Blush Overview & Swatches

Buzz kill

Melt Cosmetics Buzz Kill Digital Dust Duo Blush ($ 39.00 for 0.24 oz.) Contains two blushes: a bright pink coral and a bright, lighter peach orange with a faint sheen. If you’re someone who immediately worries if something is too “glittery” as a cheek product, I would skip this duo and consider one of the other options. Otherwise, both colors were pigmented, mixable and durable.

to hum

to hum is a medium-sized, pink-colored coral with moderate, warm undertones and a warmer, golden sheen. It had almost opaque pigmentation in a single layer that adhered well to bare skin and was faded out for a seamless finish. The powder sat well on my skin without emphasizing the texture or pores of the skin. The consistency was dense, firmer, but not stiff or difficult to work on my skin. It carried well for nine hours before it visibly faded.

Formula overview

The formula is described as buildable – from “natural and moist” to “intensified” [and] luminous, “while branded patterns were opaque. Not much else is said about the formula other than that it” never appears powdery. “The formula felt like a gel-powder hybrid, a kind of powder formula that exists across brands and brands is more consistent in performance in my experience.

The gel powder is denser, firmer in the pan, but feels smooth. It works best with a moderate hand or brush to pick up the product, and as the brand mentioned, it wasn’t powdery at all. Since no excess powder is stirred up, a moderately dense brush tapped / dabbed on the surface will help pick up the product most evenly.

The powder went on wonderfully as it blended well and had a glowing sheen that could be boosted to more metallic with a second coat or when used with a dampened brush. The cover was mostly opaque to opaque in a single coat, while my wear and tear ranged from eight to nine hours.

Kill

Kill is a light, peach-colored orange with strong W-arm undertones and a sparkling, glowing finish. It had more of the visible micro-sparkle that was present when applied to my skin, but the sparkle had good distribution and minimal migration over time. The pigmentation was opaque in a single layer. However, if you use a less dense or feather light brush, you get a semi-transparent, buildable cover.

The texture was firmer, denser, but not stiff. Although a moderately dense brush was required to pick up the product well, I had no problem applying my cheeks and smoothing out the edges for even coverage and a moderate glow. It was a good eight and a half hours before it faded noticeably.
