We are two rounds through the 2020 PGA Championship and there is a clear hierarchy of golfers who can really fight for the Wanamaker Trophy through the weekend game.
This group is led by Haotong Li, whose performance out of nowhere in Round 2 (5 under 65) put him at the top of the rankings at 8 under. The PGA Championship winner is far from certain, however – he has several golfers hot on his heels, including Mike Lorenzo-Vera, Justin Rose, Jason Day, Daniel Berger, Tommy Fleetwood and two-time defending champion Brooks Koepka. under through two rounds.

It looks like it might be a close race to the finish, but there are some storylines that need to be monitored as we go through the third lap on Saturday, including whether or not Koepka’s hip – for the one on Friday several times the attention of a coach was required – persistence remains problematic for him. It will also be curious to see if Li’s performance will change after training for several hours at TPC Harding Park after his second round.
Tiger Woods is another golfer to watch. He suffered from a miserable short game on Friday and won two strokes for the tournament. He’s a long way to go to win his fifth PGA Championship and 83rd PGA Tour event, but maybe the lower stakes allow him to be more aggressive on Saturday.
Speaking of which, Justin Thomas experienced a complete turnaround in round 3 after barely sneaking into the weekend average on the 1-over. He played five times in the top nine birdies on Saturday.
